OFFSHORE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT TO SERVICES

Perth-headquartered human resources consultant David Christie is offering clients the extra option of offshore software development through a newly formed relationship with Bali-headquartered software company Mitrais. Mr Christie, the principal of CareerCafĂ© Pty Ltd, says “offshore development is a natural and complimentary extension to the provision of contract and career staff.

The relationship with Mitrais reflects a business relationship with Mitrais CEO David Magson which goes back over two decades.” Prior to embarking on the new relationship Mr Christie undertook an extensive briefing at Mitrais’ Bali headquarters. “Mitrais is the software developer’s developer. So while it can lower costs and provide staff with skills that are in short supply in WA, it offers excellent communications by being in the same time zone, will not come on shore to compete for the end user and it has an excellent record of protecting the IP of its clients.

“Mitrais’ development methodology, the millions of lines of code and many years of engagement with Australian firms have given the company a well deserved reputation,” Mr. Christie explains. After completing his apprenticeship as an electronics engineer with the Australian Army, Mr Christie worked with the Federal Department of Transport and AAP Reuters in various communications engineering roles before he moved to Perth and established his first HR consultancy in the late 1980s. He was a founding member of the AIIA (Australian Information Industries Association) and was on the board for a decade as the Education and Training Convenor, and founded the "Education and Training Skills Forum" for WA, after his concept was embraced nationally. He was also instrumental in advising WA TAFE on the then new E-Commerce curricula. Among his business interests, David Christie is passionate about education and training and developing Australia’s intellectual property. He maintains membership with the Institute of Management Consultants Australia (IMCA) and Recruiting, Consulting and Services Australia (RCSA).
